In 2024, over 4,000 people danced the night away—and this year, we’re turning up the heat!

Salsa on the Square 2025 kicks off with the vibrant flavors of Latin America: authentic food, refreshing drinks, and local artisan vendors fill the square. The rhythm comes alive with live salsa bands and free dance lessons to get everyone moving to the irresistible beat.

Whether you’re a seasoned salsero or just stepping onto the dance floor, come celebrate culture, community, and the joy of salsa under the stars.

4PM – Welcome to the Placita Street Party! 
We’re taking over two blocks of historic Ponce de Leon for an unforgettable evening of Latin American culture, music, and community.

Bring your family, neighbors, and friends to experience:
50+ vendors offering food, snacks, and handmade art from Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America
Nonstop music starting at 4PM and going strong past 10PM
– Free dance lessons with Julian and SalsAtlanta
– Special performances from Paso Fino dancers and salsa exhibitions by Paso Fino and Habana Dance Company

Headlining the night: Dela Fuente & Caribbean Soul Band!
Get ready for a high-energy tribute to the rhythms of Latin America. Dela Fuente brings the power of Celia Cruz alongside the dynamic 10-piece Caribbean Soul Band in a celebration of salsa, merengue, and more.

Nuestra Tierra – Our Land, Our Legacy

The 5th Annual Placita Latina Exhibition, presented by the Decatur Arts Alliance, invites you to explore the theme Nuestra Tierra—a powerful reflection on heritage, resilience, and belonging. Showcasing Latinx and Hispanic artists during Hispanic Heritage Month, this juried exhibition celebrates identity, memory, and cultural pride through visual storytelling.

Day of the Dead /
Haints and Saints Parade

Line-up starts at 6 pm at the Decatur Cemetery, 229 Bell St. Ends at the square in
downtown Decatur.

Placita Latina is bringing back Decatur’s popular Halloween-themed parade! This will be the closing event for the month-long Placita Latina Hispanic heritage celebrations throughout the city.

Join us for a fun evening that celebrates the community and LatinX culture. Everyone is welcome! Put on your best, weirdest, cutest or most beautiful costumes. Cultural appreciation and costumes encouraged. Pull your friends, families or co-workers together for a marching group, create a float, or join us in your classic cars.

The parade begins at Decatur Cemetery and wraps up on the square with a musical jam session and celebration.
